RECOVERY LIVES IN COMMUNITY

The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it’s connection and community.

Renée
12Neighbours Resident

Restoring Purpose,
Reclaiming Identity

For years, Renée worked in healthcare, a field she loved deeply. But life challenges and addiction eventually pulled her away from her career, her stability, and her sense of self-worth.

Real recovery didn't happen in isolation. It took root when she turned the key to her 12Neighbours tiny home:

  • Safety & Belonging: Having a front door with her own key gave Renée a peaceful space to rest, while neighbours welcomed her into a supportive, family-like environment.

  • Dignity in Purpose:  Today, Renée works as a hostess at our social enterprise cafe, regaining her daily routine, pride, and self-reliance.

  • Launching the Future: This coming January, Renée is enrolling in the LPN Nursing Program, stepping back into healthcare on her own terms and sharing her joy with everyone around her.

What Your Support Built This Quarter

Thanks to our donor community, this quarter we launched key initiatives to strengthen recovery, food security, and health across our neighborhood:

  • The Neighbourly Pantry: A resident-inspired initiative providing accessible food security directly across the neighborhood.

  • Weekly Health Clinic: Direct wellness and healthcare access right on-site in partnership with the RECAP Clinic.

  • Social Enterprise Jobs: Meaningful employment, training, and host/hostess roles through Neighbourly Coffee and Neighbourly Ventures.
